My property has damage from heavy rain. Is that insured?

Yes, if more than 40 liters per m² per hour fell according to an official measuring point, damage to interior walls, ceilings or furniture is usually covered. Lower amounts are not covered.

Zurich relies on official weather data from recognized agencies. They check this automatically with each report and notify you as soon as an expert confirms whether the threshold has been crossed.

Consequential damage (inside) is insured, but the repair of the roof or terrace itself is always at your own expense. It is important to have this repaired quickly to prevent new damage.

No, the cause itself - such as defective roofing or grouting - is not covered. (Unless extreme storm winds would have damaged the roof.) Only consequential damage is covered if the rain was exceptionally heavy.

You can, as long as you have clear photos before and after the works and a detailed invoice. Without proof, Zurich cannot recognize the damage.

You choose that for yourself. Those who want certainty about compensation should wait for the expert's agreement. Those who do not want to wait, can already repair provided sufficient evidence (photos + invoice).

Photos of the damage (before and after), description of the incident, date and time, and invoices of repairs. Official weather data or warnings also help.

If so, there is no coverage with any company. Your property must withstand normal winds. From 75km/h Zurich's coverage applies; most other insurers only cover from 85 or 95km/h.

No, loose or unanchored items are excluded by default. Garden furniture does tend to be covered separately, as well as fixed structures or anchored elements such as sun tents.

Yes, if the hail was exceptionally intense. Damage to solar panels is only covered under certain policies. If in doubt, we will review your coverage together.

Take photos of the appliances, request a technical report from a specialist and provide the repair invoice. Keep the appliances until the case is completed.

An official weather report and a technical report from the repairer are sufficient. This should clearly state that the damage is due to power surge or lightning strikes and which parts broke as a result.

Then we'll review together whether there is additional evidence, such as local news articles or damage from neighbors. We will defend your case to the end.

If so, there is no coverage. The home must be in a normal state of repair. However, we can help prove whether the damage was caused in part by the weather.

We open your file, follow up communication with Zurich, provide missing info and contact you directly in case of delays. You have one point of contact until everything is resolved.

Had damage? We'll take care of it for you.

A claim is annoying enough, especially if you are in another country and not everything proceeds in your own language. That's why we make sure that your damage is handled correctly, clearly and as smoothly as possible.
