Water damage

Do you have any questions? We will gladly give you clear answers

My home has water damage from a leak in its own pipes. Is that insured?

Yes. Zurich covers leak repair and consequential damage to walls, ceilings and floors. Improvements or renewal of entire pipes are not covered under the policy.

No. The repair of faucets or appliances is never insured. The consequential damage they cause is.

You decide that for yourself. Those who want certainty wait for the agreement. Those who want faster repair, take clear photos first and ask for a detailed invoice.

Photos of the damage, a brief description of the cause, the date of the incident and the invoice for the repair.

Your own leak and damage are handled through your policy. The neighbors report their damages to their own insurer. Zurich reimburses them or their insurer only if your liability is established.

The perpetrator must first fix the cause. Your insurer cannot enforce that. After that, you file your own claim with Zurich.

You can take legal action through your policy in some cases. Zurich then opens a legal file and appoints a lawyer. We assist you with the start-up.

Provide us with the photos and the invoice of the repair. Then the consequential damage can be repaired by yourself or through Zurich.

Repair of the leak and consequential damages are usually covered. Detection and water loss depend on your policy. Always provide an invoice that clearly separates the two costs.

You can, depending on your policy. There is usually coverage for localization, repair and sometimes a portion of additional water usage. We would be happy to review that with you.

Often they do. You can ask for a rebate using the bill for the repair as proof. This goes directly through the water company, not the insurance company.

Only if a sudden leak in the water lines to and from the pool is identified by a pool specialist. Wear, evaporation or cracks in the tub are excluded.

Send us photos and a brief explanation. We will quickly review whether it is water damage or rain seepage and file the appropriate case.

We open your file, follow it up with Zurich and keep in touch schtick by schtick until there is clarity. One point of contact, in your language, until everything is settled.

Had damage? We'll take care of it for you.

A claim is annoying enough, especially if you are in another country and not everything proceeds in your own language. That's why we make sure that your damage is handled correctly, clearly and as smoothly as possible.
