Fire, smoke, and explosion

Do you have any questions? We will gladly give you clear answers

My home has fire damage. What should I do first?

Always call the emergency number 112 first if there is danger. Shut off the gas and electricity and leave the home safely. Keep the fire department's report and take photos as soon as it is safe to do so.

Yes, direct damage from fire, smoke, or explosion is covered under your policy. Zurich will review the claim based on your photos, statements, and potentially the fire department report.

Even then, your own damages may be covered. Please provide us with the details of the incident so Zurich can determine whether coverage is through your policy or through the perpetrator.

Do not throw anything away until the expert has visited. Take clear photos of all damage and keep damaged items for inspection as much as possible.

In case of major damage, it is best to wait for the expert. For minor cleanup or emergency repairs, you may start, as long as you take good photos of the situation before starting the work.

Always file a report with the police or Guardia Civil and provide us with the official report. Zurich needs this to process the claim further.

The name of the policyholder, the correct and complete damage address, VAT number, invoice number, and a clear description of the work. Only official, non-editable invoices will be accepted.

That can also be insured. Smoke and soot damage fall under the same coverage as fire. Send us photos and a description of exactly what has been affected.

We open and follow up your file from start to finish, collect all info for Zurich and contact you in case of delays. One point of contact in your language, until everything is settled

Had damage? We'll take care of it for you.

A claim is annoying enough, especially if you are in another country and not everything proceeds in your own language. That's why we make sure that your damage is handled correctly, clearly and as smoothly as possible.
